Says it all…

Dark and gloomy. This was our local pub – on New Year’s Eve! I’ve hardly crept out since. A few quick trips down to the seafront – but not if the sun is out…

We had a very cold snap a few days ago. Feeling rather smug, I went to dig out a superior, extra warm alpaca and merino blanket I made during the first lockdown in the Spring. By the time I had finished knitting it,of course, we were into a heatwave, so it went into store. Nasty surprise when I retrieved it – in dozens of pieces! Absolutely typical – once the knitting was completed I just never got round to stitching it all together – a chore I loathe. So now I am spending my mornings sprawled across the floor, trying to join it all up before the weather changes…

I definitely don’t have the hang of these image blocks yet, but I won’t be defeated. Anyway, it does manage to make the log cabin design look as confusing as it actually is…I’m off to face up to another strip!

On/off? Yes? No?

It turns out it’s ‘yes’ after all. We changed our minds every day – so many factors for and against – but finally we decided to keep the ferry booking we made way back before lockdown. We’re off to France tomorrow.

Piles of bags – and bags of piles – everywhere. One bag for clothes, one bag for books (thanks to kindle) and all the rest for yarn, tops, dyestuffs, winding gear….

I did have some pictures but WordPress continues to be weird. Nasty little pink boxes that say ‘An unknown error occurred’. No further help. So no image possible. Ridiculous.

You can probably tell I still hate this new Block Editor. I do keep trying.

I’ll wave from over the Channel – internet and WordPress permitting. Exciting, if rather anxious, times!

The Answers to Two Questions

Question one:
Version 2
The rather magnificent piece of furniture (see other picture below) is a cope chest – obviously, you don’t want to get your copes in a twist! I was told that it is certainly medieval, probably as early as the 13th century and, apparently, one of only seven surviving. I have seen a similar chest in Wells and another in York Minster but I think this Salisbury one is my favourite. Anyone know where the other four are lurking?
Question two:

IMG_1951Yes, the colour that I need to include in every dyeing session is BLUE – all shades from aquas to violet purples and real indigo – someone will buy it!
